The fifth event in the “Broken Wings” Caravan took place in Tulcea, and it was organized together with the Social Assistance and Social Protection Directorate, which also hosted it for three hours.
The talks within the event were very educational, and they encouraged all institutions, organizations, and citizens to get involved socially. We were pleasantly surprised by the presence of a representative of Tulcea Episcopate who talked about the way in which each one of us can bring change in society as long as we keep our humanity, and we do not re-enact the bad examples of our parents, or of those who are close to us. Furthermore, from the discussions that took place, it was made evident, once again, that there is a need for the creation of centers for the re-education, psychological counseling, and social reintegration of the assailants, since we are talking about a cause and effect phenomenon.
Moreover, we rejoiced over the presence of Mr. Petre Marinescu, Vice-mayor, as well as those of the representatives of the Prefect’s Office, the Local Council, the Administration of the Penitentiaries, as well as of other public institutions and non-governmental organizations. In the room, there were also two ladies who decided to recount the drama they live, and who asked for advice regarding the ways in which they could leave the abusive relationships they have lived in for years.
Mrs. Ștefana Zibileanu, Executive of Tulcea Social Assistance and Social Protection Directorate, talked about education and the way in which it can lead to social change. Mrs. Executive’s advice was that each one of us “should apply the principle of the mirror” and ask ourselves, whenever we look in the mirror, “how did I participate in the betterment of the society?”.
