IMPROVING THE JUSTICE SYSTEM’S RESPONSE TO CASES OF SEXUAL AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
E.L.E. – Evolve by Learning to Empower project is implemented by Necuvinte Association in partnership with AVON Cosmetics Romania, Foreign Policy Committee, Romanian Senate, National Agency for Equality between Women and Men, The General inspectorate of the Romanian Police, National Police Corps.
General objective:
The project aims to improve the justice system’s response to cases of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence through a victim-centered intervention.
Specific objectives:
- Improving access to justice for victims of domestic and gender-based violence.
- Creating a network of professionals at the level of the Municipality of Bucharest through a specialised training program for justice system workers (police officers, prosecutors, judges), psychologists of the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection in Bucharest and lawyers in a multidisciplinary team.
- Increasing the level of awareness regarding domestic and gender-based violence.
The first day with many emotions has come to an end. The specialised training will have a duration of 4 days, 20 – 23.01.2025 and takes place in the Constantin Stere Hall in the Romanian Senate.
At the opening of today’s session, we had the honor of having with us representatives of the project partners:
– Chair of the Senate Foreign Policy Committee, Mr. Titus Corlățean,
– Mrs. Secretary of State Luminița Popescu, President of the National Agency for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, – Mrs. Sarah Levit-Shore, Political Officer of the United States Embassy in Romania,
– Deputy of the General Prosecutor of Romania, Mr. Nicolae-Andrei Solomon, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of Cassation and Justice,
– Police Chief Marcel Simion, President of the National Police Corps,
– Representatives of the Romanian Police, Mr. Police Chief Commissioner Marius Mihai, Director of the Public Order Directorate,
– Mr. Police Chief Commissioner Doru-Antonio Marinciu, Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate and
– Ana Nicolae, Head of Integrated Communication, Avon Cosmetics Romania.

Evolve by Learning to Empower” – specialized training for justice system professionals, funded by the United States Department of State from the International Programs to Support Democracy, Human Rights and Labor through Vital Voices Global Partnership, with the support of AVON Cosmetics Romania, implemented in partnership with the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Senate, the National Agency for Equal Opportunities between Women and Men, the Romanian Police and the National Police Corps.
Starting tomorrow morning, we continue with a full agenda, which will cover essential topics regarding victim centered approach to gender-based crimes, alongside the team of our extraordinary trainers Mark Wynn, Rhonda Martinson and Tom Tremblay.
