I Don’t Want to Die! Let’s stand united for women in Turkey!

EN

Turkish women are under attack!
200 women have been killed by men in Turkey so far this year.
2 women killed every day since the beginning of 2021.
In March this year, Turkey renounced the Istanbul Convention leaving women without protection.

Femicide is raising in number every year, yet the judicial system in Turkey considers them as
suspicious deaths, not gender-based violence deaths and the murderers are not being punished accordingly to their crimes, many of them are prosecuted without detention.

Many women are asking the police for help, but the attitude of the police officers is to discourage them in following the legal procedures.
If the Istanbul Convention would have been accepted by the Turkish Government, many of those femicides could have been prevented.

In order to end all these murders and for the killers to get the punishment they deserve, we request the government and the relevant authorities to reconsider their decisions about the Istanbul Convention and to take some surely needed actions to protect the lives of girls and women in Turkey.
