The british actor Patrick Stewart, especially known for his role in Star Trek, spoke about the suffering of his mother, victim of his father’s violent behavior, a few years ago, about how helpless he felt as a child, being witness to countless scandals and unable to do anything to defend her. Now, he chose to tell his story and to use it as an example to others, and thus became an international ambassador of the fight against domestic violence.
In one of his recent interviews, Stewart said: “Those who could do a lot to improve the situation of so many women and children are actually men. It is in our power to end violence against women.”
Domestic violence affects men as well, but the sad reality is that the vast majority of domestic violence victims are women.
With the campaign “A Real Man”, we seek to gather more beautiful people, great men, not just public figures. Men who understand what it truly means to respect and love those around them, who do not use violence to try to fix a relationship when it is not working anymore, who know how to say “thank you”, “sorry” and “I love you”.
We thank all these beautiful people, all those who will join us in the future, and those who know that being in a relationship does not mean terror and anguish.
