Together with Uber for the Safety of Women in Vehicles and at Home

Necuvinte Association signed a partnership with Uber, the only transportation service for which no passenger is anonymous.

We live in crowded cities, always in a hurry, always moving. The need for safe transportation is very important, especially for women, who complained about numerous unpleasant incidents, or even dangerous ones, that happened last year in various means of transportation.

Necuvinte Association stresses the safety of women; most of the unpleasant incidents taking place in the public spaces happen during evening, at night. According to Uber statistics, 7 out of 10 users in Bucharest, women and men, order a car after nightfall. Although we used the services offered by Uber before we became partners, we did not know about all the security measures that Uber offers to its users.

Starting with the fact that the drivers need a clean criminal record, and at least one year of driving experience, and continuing with the fact that throughout the entire drive, the route is monitored both through the driver’s app, and the passenger’s. As a passenger, you have access to a lot of information about the Uber driver through the app, where his picture, the license plate of the car, and his rating, which cannot be lower than 4.7 out of 5, can be found. If complaints about the language, behavior, or driving style of a driver have been made, he is temporarily disabled until the resolution of the issue, and, if the issue proves to be serious, he will be excluded from the Uber chain.

Another important safety element is that you can send a link with your location on the map, where you are, with whom, and where you are headed to, to a friend through the Uber app, so that someone else, other than you and the driver, would always know where you are.

For us, it was a pleasant surprise to discover a company that insists so much on the passenger’s safety, and a team that is so open towards the civil society and social issues such as domestic violence.

Starting with March, for an entire year, Uber will cover all the transportation needs of the Association’s team and of the women who benefit from the Association’s programs. Moreover, they will support the Association’s activities aimed at raising awareness regarding domestic violence.

A partnership for the safety of women!

At the beginning of the partnership, we offer all those who have never tried Uber before a gift for safety transportation. You can sign up for an account on Uber.com/App, introduce the promo code Necuvinte, and your first ride will be free, up to 30 RON.
