“Broken Wings” national campaign

Necuvinte Association thanks Kaufland Romania for financing this campaign!

On the July 1, Necuvinte Association in partnership with the Romanian Police launched the first national campaign Broken Wings. The bedrock of this campaign is the “Broken Wings” documentary created with the support of Castel Film and the National Administration of Penitentiaries. The documentary presents the situation regarding the victims of domestic violence in Romania through several cases of detained women from Târgșor Women’s Penitentiary. The documentary is built around the stories of women who have lived a life of abuse and fear, the motivation behind their choice to bear years of cruel sufferings, without asking for anyone’s help and reaching a point where they gave up all hope and changed the roles from victim to aggressor, doing their own justice.

We thank Melania Medeleanu, Violeta Dascălu, Helen Șipoș and Florin Vlaicu for their support in making this documentary. We also thank the Institute for Research and Prevention of Criminality within the Romanian Police, Castel Film, the National Administration of Penitentiaries, the Țuca Zbârcea & Asociații law firm, Regina Maria Social Polyclinics Foundation, the Romanian Rugby Federation and the Ferdinand School in Bucharest.

As part of this campaign, a Safety Guide for the Victims of Domestic Violence was also created which, by the end of this year will be distributed to all the police stations nationwide. This guide is for people who understand that they are in an abusive relationship and take the first steps towards leaving that environment.

The guide will be distributed along with posters that will be posted in the notice boards of every apartment building. These posters are aimed at “the black number” of domestic violence, the people who are not found in any statistics, people who never talked about what they are going through.

810,500 preventive materials were printed and distributed.

During this campaign, information and awareness activities will be organised at a national level.

With the support of Observator Antena 1 and Sonia Simionov, who agreed to give voice to the thousands of people who fall victim to violence every year, we launched the “Broken Wings” TV spot. The spot will be broadcast on national and local televisions, in Bucharest’s subway stations and “Henri Coandă” International Airport.

Thanks to Kolectiv Romania for making the spot!
