At the invitation of Mrs. Bianca Deac from the Organization of Liberal Women from Cluj and Ms. Eleonora – Chairwoman of the VIVAD Association from Cluj, on January 22, 2016, Necuvinte Association participated in the debate “Domestic violence, from law to reality”.
The event was the first national meeting of this kind and sought to identify specific solutions in terms of legislation and social field, both to improve the living conditions of abuse victims and to punish the perpetrators and therefore to reduce and discourage this alarming phenomenon.
The meeting focused mainly on analyzing emotional violence because in Romania this is a sensitive issue and it is also underrated. Compared to physical and sexual violence, emotional violence is difficult to detect and the consequences and impact of these actions are much more serious than one would think. Emotional abuse is considered to be the most painful form of violence and the most injurious way to destroy one’s self-esteem; it creates wounds that are much more difficult to heal than physical injuries.
The debate was moderated by Mrs. Bianca Deac on behalf of OLW Cluj.
In this debate, public figures and experts involved in combating domestic violence were invited to speak:
- PhD. senior lecturer PAUL POPOVICI (“Dimitrie Cantemir”, Christian University);
- CRISTINA CUIBUS, lawyer, Cluj Bar Association;
- CERASELA LIBEG, psychologist;
