We are trying to raise a red flag and talk as much as possible during this period about the vulnerability of victims of domestic violence. This time, it was the turn of our colleague Simona Voicescu, who, in a dialogue with Observator said that worldwide, acts of domestic violence have increased due to isolation at home with the aggressors.
In Romania, unfortunately, there is peace. The public authorities did not take firm positions, as they should have been, as they would have been responsible to do.
Even if it is a difficult period, even if the institutional commitment is missing this time as well, it is important that women who are victims of domestic violence know that they are not alone. We are here to help them. And most importantly, we must be aware that the state of emergency has not deprived us of our rights or access to justice.
Yesterday we had another case – during this period, we have at least one a day – with a young woman who was constantly threatened. She was afraid. Fear of him, fear of calling for help. Afraid to call 112, thinking she might be fined.
