During the preparation match that Romania national rugby team played with the representative of Uruguay, which took place on the stadium Arc de Triomphe on November 26th, both teams sent a message against violence. Before the match, the two national teams took pictures holding the banners with the messages “Rugby says NO to Violence against Women”.

This event was part of the 16 days of activism against violence agaist women and was organised with the support of Romanian Rugby Federation and  the National Agency for Equality between Women and Men.

„In rugby, being fair-play is a fundamental value and I think this is important in the daily life too. Equality is a form of fair-play, through this we recognise that we have the same potential, that through work, dedication, patience and passion we can become better. The word ‘sport’ conjugates also at feminine, so is rugby, so we are more than happy to have the occasion to reinstate our strong belief against discrimination.”, said Haralambie Dumitraș, President of the Romanian Rugby Federation
