“Broken Wings” Caravan in Slatina

The eleventh event within the “Broken Wings” Caravan took place in Slatina, at Atelierul Intercultural Victoria.

Representatives of the Slatina city-hall, of DGASPC Slatina, of the non-governmental organizations, of the Probation Service, and the local press participated in the event. Unfortunately, even though the members of the Court and of the Prosecutor’s Office in Slatina were located only 20 meters away from the location of the event, they did not see fit to respond to our invitation to participate in the event, and debate, together, the issue of domestic violence, and to find means of easing the system that offers support and protection to the victims.

After discussing with the representatives of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection, we found out about their implication in the domestic violence cases, including that beginning last year a center for emergency receiving for the victims of domestic violence was opened, which cheered us, and made us believe that in Olt county the victims of domestic violence can find support in public institutions.

The representatives of the Police County Inspectorate in Olt brought up the question of the withdrawal of the complaints by the victims and the danger they expose themselves to by renouncing their legal right to defense.

Regarding the statistical data concerning the protective order in Olt, in 2015, out of the 94 requests that were submitted, 48 were granted; in 2016, out of the 107 submitted requests, 66 were granted, which shows that this legal instrument for immediate protection is used more and more in Olt county too.

We thank the County Police Inspectorate in Olt for the involvement both in the organization of the event, and in the deployment of the “Broken Wings” national campaign in the urban and rural areas.

We thank the city-hall in Slatina which supported and hosted our event.

The “Broken Wings” caravan is part of the national campaign for the prevention of domestic violence, with the same name, created by Necuvinte Association in partnership with  the Romanian Police, and financed by Kaufland România.
