A year has passed since the Romanian state failed to save the lives of Alexandra Măceșanu and Luiza Melencu.

One year since Necuvinte Association sent a Call for immediate action from the Council of Europe to prevent the loss of human lives due to the deficiencies of the emergency response system and institutionalised sexism in Romania – no answer received.

A year of complicit silences of public institutions, during which time other young women disappeared from home, some perhaps forever.
